Let’s act on accessibility!

This initiative is supported by Leviz Albaniaa project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and will be implemented during the timeline April 2020-January 2021.
The aim of the initiative is to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities in the municipalities: Durres, Shkodër, Mat through strengthening the activism of local disability organisations with the aim of improving accountability of the respective municipalities on enforcing legal obligations for accessibility.

The objectives:

• Raising awareness in the community of persons with disabilities on their rights and to strengthen capacities and cooperation among disability organisations in the three municipalities on the legal framework and its enforcement, and strategies and mechanisms for activism and how to raise their voice together for a bigger impact.
• To improve transparency of local authorities through monitoring reports, round tables and using legal complaints to institutions and through a marching in each of the municipalities in order to bring to the attention the issue of accessibility

To raise awareness to the society at large on accessibility through a strategic media plan, social media campaign and also through producing some videos on difficulties that persons with disabilities face in moving around their communities.
